Day 1, April 15
First Day.
Today marks the first day that I started working at the Bellevue Recreational Center. I had helped with the preparation of a few baseball fields. We set up fence posts and brought the fencing to the atom league field. The fencing did not get put up because the fields were in the process of being mowed. Overall it was a simple couple hours just to get my feet wet and an understanding of what I'll be doing of the course of the internship.
Day 2, April 17
Baseball Field Prep Into
Today was a fairly easy day. First I started off by learning a few extra things about cleaning up a baseball field, but with my baseball background I had understood everything that was being described. Another worker and I had cleaned up and prepared two baseball fields today. I rug the infield, swapped the bases out, made the batter boxes, and created the foul line. With both of the fields, we had to move the bases in from 90 feet to 60 feet as we were preparing for the little kids to play on them. On the second field , we had to put in a new pitchers mound. So we dug out the old one and had to line the new one up with home plate and second base.
Day 3, April 29
Kids Track
Today was a fairly short meeting time. We were up at the high school track and we worked with kids on baton hand offs and distance running. The kids varied in ages, from 6 to 14 years old. We worked on gripping and grabbing the baton from your partner, along with running with the baton. After we had all that down, we did a couple relays and we finished with a little competitive run. The 14 year olds lined upon on one side of the track and all the younger kids on the other. On the whistle everyone was to sprint and the 14 year olds had to catch up to the younger kids.
Day 4, April 30
Soccer For Beginners
Today we worked with the game of soccer and the younger kids. There was two different groups that showed up, the kindergarten and first graders and then the second and third graders. We worked on dribbling the soccer ball and protecting it from the defenders. Although it was pretty difficult to get that young of kids to work together and stay where they were supposed to and not wonder off it was a good day. It was fun working with and playing soccer with the younger kids.
Day 5, May 1
Baseball Field Prep
With all the rain we have been receiving in this area our playing fields have been soaking up a lot of water. Today we prepped up the little league field for a softball game that was taking place at 1. We had to put down a lot of diamond dry to help soak up the standing water around the field. When we had as much soaked up as we could get we hopped on the gator and spike drug the field. Dragging the field with spikes allows for the field to take in more air and there for allows it to dry quicker.
After we finished with the field prep, we headed back out to the Rec Center and we sorted out 15 teams with their jerseys, pants and hats. We had all the rosters of all 15 teams with the kids sizes of shirts and pants and went through every single kid and put their equipment into a bag with their name and a team colored hat.

Day 6, May 2
Baseball Field Prep
Today was a busy day and long day due to the weather and rain we have received over night. To start the day, we checked the conditions of the two fields that were going to be played on today. The little league field and field number two at the Rec. Center. Both were in pretty bad condition but with some time and a little breeze the water soaked in and cleared off the fields. In the mean time of waiting, we made a field for the little kids right next to the Rec. Center. We put up a snow fence for the benches area and created a small field for the young kids. When we were done with the making of the little field we headed back to the little league field. The fields were not completely dry and had some moisture in it. We had to get the little league field done early so it could dry up and be ready for game time at 5:30. We used a lot of diamond dry today to help soak up most of the water that did not dry up over time.
Day 7, May 3

Today we cleaned up the park a little. We cleaned up the loose trash laying around and cleared out all the trashcans. Along with that, we prepared the little league field. We then placed rocks along the front of the new building and around the plants that we planted. From 6-8 pm we were working with kids and doing track events. First, we had kids from the ages 3-5 and that session was just to get them familiar with running and working with others on the baton hand off. After finishing the hanging of the signs, I was told to prep field two at the rec center and I did so.

Today I started out at the city center because of the rainy weather we were getting. I was to sweep pretty much all of the inside walk area. There is a designated walking track for the public to come in ad walk if they want to. Also in there is a big turf area, a pole vaulting training area, and a gymnastics area. I had to clean up and pick up and trash in these areas as well as sweep the floors. Today was also the last day for the kids track, so we had a track meet. There were two field events that the kids could choose or they could choose the running events. We had standing long jump and softball toss as the two field events and multiple running events. We started off doing the two field events and I was in charge of measuring the kids jumps and recording them. After finishing the field events we moved to the running events. I was a timer and kept track of lanes 2 and 3. So I had two timers and was timing each lane.

We also took a fence that was not being used and used it for a backstop at the second atom league field.
Day 21, May 19
Center Maintenance
Today started off not so good. We went to go prep the little league and we had trouble with the cart not being able to drive forward. So we waited to do the fields later in the day and instead we power washed the pool. This took us all day and we still are not finished. We started off by spraying down simple green and having two people scrub to help lift some dirt and then I followed with the power washer. We are starting to get the pool ready because we plan on opening it June 4.

After doing so, we went to the dog park located right next to the field and we wanted to get some holes dug so we could place benches there for people to sit. When doing so the machine we were using was not getting the job done so someone took it back from where they got it and went to Sandusky to grab one with hydraulics. While he went on the run, we finished up doing the rest of the baseball fields and when we were finished we headed back to the dog park. When we got back we continued to finish with the digging of the holes. In total we dug ten holes and they were all 20 inches deep.
